It was the season to be cheerful and spend time to the family but we were hard at it throughout the Christmas period.
At the beginning of December, we had been given an ambitious brief by The Big Issue Foundation to have a new website live by 16 January 2012.
Being up for a challenge we duly set about building. There is nothing like a tight deadline to help focus the mind and get things right first time. There certainly wasn’t time for much discussion and deliberation.
The Big Issue Foundation wanted to improve their online fundraising activity and proposition. Their existing website was dated and slow with an inconsistent look and feel between the various sections. It had no content management system and had poor SEO value. Over time it had fallen behind other charities in terms of social media and online fundraising tools.
We delivered a new Drupal website that Big Issue staff can manage themselves through an intuitive content management system. The site has improved on-site SEO and a consistent look and feel. It has improved donation and event landing pages that will increase conversion and it has better supporter tools for users to promote the great work of the Foundation.
This is just the start. We were never going to be able to make all of our aspirations live by 16 January but we now have a fabulous platform from which to build. We are now working with the Foundation to make sure that their social media, SEO, analytics are all configured to make sure they get the most from their web presence. Over time we will be introducing a range of new functionality and pages so watch this space.
This is an example of how a small, agile company like Symposium can work quickly to deliver scalable and effective web solutions that are usually associated with larger more expensive agencies. If you have a brief then let’s talk.
